    Age Group: Primary

    Description: In response to the global Covid-19 pandemic, Pacific Crest School, founded in 1985, is creating a new position to support our enrolled children who must stay home. We are a private, non-profit, AMI-rooted Montessori school serving over 220 students ages 3 through 14 at our urban campus in Seattle. Our 19-acre farm on Vashon Island provides additional invaluable experience in a nature-based setting with sustainable food production and care of the land.

    We seek an AMI-trained, experienced Primary Guide to coordinate, carry out, and refine our Learning From Home program for ages three through six. This person will work closely with our four Primary Guides and administration to support the families and the children themselves as they endeavor to grow and learn new skills and concepts in our Montessori Learning at Home, home-based program. This program was developed by our AMI-trained teachers to help the children take advantage of their sensitive periods even while the global pandemic requires they stay at home.

    In addition to directly supporting the children in their Montessori-rooted, remotely delivered learning experiences, parent education, communication, digital file management and parent partnership will be pivotal responsibilities in this position. Because regional public health guidelines may change over the course of the coming school year, all of these responsibilities may move from partially in-person/partially on-line to exclusively on-line. Additionally, the number of children being supported by the teacher in this position will likely change as more or fewer children are required to stay home.

    Desired Qualifications, Skills/Experience, and Attitudes:

    AMI Primary diploma and teaching experience, preferably 3 - 10 years;

    Lead Teacher qualifications through the Washington Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF);

    Two or four-year degree;

    Strong communication skills with children, parents, and co-workers;

    Good organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks, roles, and deadlines;

    Proficiency in Google Docs, video conferencing, and video creation;

    Flexibility, creativity, critical thinking, self-motivation, and a willingness to collaborate cohesively with our team to create and carry out the most successful on-line Montessori development program for our children.

    What You Can Expect:

    Excellent benefits, including medical, dental, vision, matching retirement, paid professional development, and paid sick leave and holidays;

    A close-knit, supportive community of families and staff who are passionate about the school’s mission, vision, and Montessori education.

    This is an exempt, full-time position beginning mid-August 2020, with a base salary $40,000-$60,000 for the 10-month school year, depending on experience and education. Working 100% remotely may be considered.

    To apply, please submit cover letter and resume to Dorrie Knapp Guy, Head of School, at employment@pacificcrest.org.
